At Eyes On The Future Child Development Center, we offer a wide array of school-readiness programs for young children between the ages of three months and twelve years. We're committed to helping your child become more thoughtful, creative, and confident. Visit us today or call us at (773) 973-0771 to arrange a private tour. We are fortunate to be in demand, but that means we currently have a waitlist for new children.
We aim to provide quality early care and education through research-based curriculum and family-oriented initiatives for the purpose of promoting school readiness in children ages 3 months to 5 years of age. Quality care and education is delivered through a positive and responsive relationship with the caregivers as well as through a sound curriculum that provides for physical, socio-emotional, cognitive and language development.
We envision a center whose staff and families served represent the vibrant diversity of its community. We strive to make Eyes On The Future Child Development Center a center where all children can feel safe, loved, and given the best start to their education regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, and socio-economic status. For this reason, we make every effort to provide quality programming through quality enhancement initiatives and partnerships on the local, state and federal level.
Established in 1994 by Azieb Mehzun Gebrehiiwet, Eyes On The Future Child Development Center is a private child development center that proudly serves children and families in the Rogers Park community in Chicago.
Mrs. Gebrehiiwet, owner and CEO of the center, left her position as Vice President of Operations to pursue her dream of serving families with young children and empowering under resourced families to thrive in their communities. Eyes On The Future Child Development Center is currently licensed to serve 213 children and 60 school-age children.
Services we offer:
Initially located on Loyola Avenue, Eyes On The Future Child Development Center moved to its current location in 2004. Mrs. Azieb observed that most of the families were traveling from further north in Rogers Park. That’s why we moved into the heart of Rogers Park where it is currently located on Lunt Avenue. Our capacity tripled to 213 from 71 within five years of moving to the new location.
Our program offerings also grew in significant ways. We introduced our Prevention Initiative program with full-time Family Support and Infant/Toddler Specialists, Parents as Teachers, parent education programs, and continuity of care (hereafter referred to as Continuity of Relationships) in 2009.
When I first came to America in 1970, I was a young professional with a career in the banking industry. During this time, I was also simultaneously raising a family with my husband. As it is no easy task, I experienced first hand the difficulty in finding a safe, reliable and quality child care and education for my children. Thankfully I was able to find a program for my children which enabled me and my husband to provide for our family while easing our worries.
Naturally this left a profound effect on me and a strong desire to repay for my gratitude. And it was during these early years in the United States that the seed for opening a daycare center was firmly planted in my mind. A few decades later, Eyes On The Future Child Development Center was opened on May 14, 1994.
Since the beginning, we strove for excellence in programming and cutting-edge child development, and in the year 2000, Eyes On The Future Child Development Center became accredited by the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This agency awards accreditation for programs that exhibit high standards of excellence in education, community, health and sanitation, parent engagement, staff development, and administration to name a few.
In 2004, Eyes On The Future Child Development Center was asked to take over and improve a child development center in its neighboring Rogers Park Community. With the opportunity to serve families in Rogers Park, Eyes On The Future Child Development Center made a significant transition that year and permanently moved its operations to Rogers Park where it resides today. The center has subsequently added other program enhancements to further enrich the children’s learning through (Chicago Public Schools) CPS’s Prevention Initiative and Preschool for All Programs, Head Start, and Parents As Teachers. Through this process, the school has tripled in size to serve 300 children, approximately 150 families, and 45 qualified staff members.
Now on our third decade, my Eyes On The Future Child Development Center staff and I, are proud to have served the families of Rogers Park and look forward to continuing service for many years to come.
